Bloggers Christmas Party

16th December 2008

Directions and toys needed December 14, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — yachtiefriends @ 2:40 pm

So as I was saying the other day we would be giving all of the money we made from the blogger’s lunch to the kids up in Crumlin children’s hospital cancer project. Another idea I have had is that if anybody has any cool toys around the house (or even wants to buy a couple of toys and bring them along) we will gather them all up and put them into a huge sack and maybe add some more with whatever money is leftover and head on up to put some smiles on faces!

Secondly here is a map of where the party is happening……

We will be meeting and having a drink in The Dice Bar from 17.30 until 18.30 for a little pre-dinner drink which is on the corner of Queen Street and Benburb Street. They have a great selection of beers and some bangin music!

From there we will all move on to my place where Frank and Lar will be doing a wine tasting and we will be eating some great food and getting hammered!

Map is here

Making it worthwhile December 11, 2008

Although it is Xmas and we are all about to have a load of fun and party our little asses off you have to remember that there are some people in the world who are just not as lucky as us and that is why we are going to try and make a little bit of money for a very worthy charity on Tuesday night. Laura has pointed us in the direction of “The Crumlin Children’s hospital cancer project” as a great benefactor for whatever little bit of money we can raise.ย

We are still thinking about the best way to do this (all ideas welcome!) and so far the best we have is either bidding for the cool prizes that people have donated (full list coming at weekend) or giving a prize to each blogger to raffle on their blog. The tickets are also 30 Euros but with the way sponsoring is going we should have a lot of money left over from those as well so the children should benefit a great deal.ย

I am thinking we can use the money immediately and drop up a big batch of Xmas presents to put a smile on to some little faces!

Let me know what you think and how we could raise even more money while getting very drunk ๐Ÿ™‚

Prizes for bloggers party

The good news is that we are starting to get a load of prizes offered for the Bloggers Xmas party. Here is the first one which has kindly been donated by the great people at Toyota who were contacted by Conor Lynch who works at eightytwenty and also heads upย connector.ie (head on over to his connector event tonight)

The Prize

Given the expected demand – tickets for the final home game in Thomond Park in the Heineken Cup will be like gold dust. Nonethless Toyota are delighted to offer 2 seated tickets and invitations to the Toyota Ireland hospitality in the stadium for the winners of the bloggers Christmas lunch draw. They hope that it will be a popular prize! Match details below.

Round 5 of the Heineken Cup – Munster Rugby V Sale Sharks, Thomond Park, weekend of the 17/18 January – time and date tbc.

All we have to do now is figure out a way of choosing the winners for all these great prizes, anybody have any great ideas? I am thinking of a charity raffle, or even bloggers raffling on their blogs with the money going to charity! Watch out for more prizes later today ๐Ÿ™‚

Possible Late venue Change

The good news is that there are tons of people interested in the bloggers party but the bad news is that we are having a couple of issues with the party! The big problem is that the wine boys Lar and Frankย are coming up trumps on the sponsored wine front and we are looking good on all other booze front as well. Now the bad news about that is not a lot of venues would be happy with us rocking up and drinking our own booze so a plan is hatching in my head! I am thinking about opening doors to my own apartment and moving the party there as there are no rules in my place and we can drink as much free booze as we want! The exciting thing is Lar and Frank are going to do a live wine tasting with everybody getting involved and being filmed professionally so as we can get the wines a bit of coverage.

I would also be able to cook tons of great food at home and all we would have to do would be rent a load of wine glasses. Anyway this is just a thought that is running through my head and I might be certifiably mad inviting 30 bloggers into my place to drink copious amounts of booze but what the heck! Its Christmas!

What can you do to help? December 6, 2008

Now that we have a date for the event the next thing to get set up is for everybody to start helping to make this the best Christmas party ever! The idea is for everybody to bring something extra to the party to make the overall experience better for everybody! We have already found a venue, live music(with cool sounds system) is in the bag but we need some of the following things to make this an even bigger party…….

  • A comedian (sound system provided)
  • Christmas Stockings (so as we can fill with gifts from sponsors!)
  • Wines for the Wine tasting
  • Gifts for bloggers (if you are a company throw something in and it will be seen by lots of influential bloggers)
  • A proper logo for the event
  • Desserts to be brought along by people

If you think that you could help with any of the above or indeed have any other cool ideas as to how you could make the party even better please feel free to leave a comment here and we will get back to you. It is your party after all ๐Ÿ™‚

Bloggers Xmas Party Launches December 5, 2008

Thought it was about time the Blogger’s Dinner(It had to be moved to dinner instead of lunch due to some scheduling issues!) got a new home so have set up this blog so as all the info would be in one place. The venue is Le Cirk on Dame Street in Dublin and the date is 16th December and Dinner will be followed by a full on party lasting long into the night ๐Ÿ™‚ The idea behind the lunch is that everybody contributes something to the occasion and we have a really cool event for bloggers around Ireland and small companies with only a handful of employees! The dinner will be kicking off at 6 in the afternoon with finger food being served from 9 onwards for people who are not able to make the main event.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be adding sponsors, menus , ticket information and a full list of who is contributing what to the party! Should be a good laugh!
